Nos dias 29 e 30 de maio, foi realizada em Moscou o Fórum das Academias de Ciências dos BRICS, liderado em 2024 pela Academia Russa de Ciências. Esta foi a primeira vez que o Fórum foi realizado com a participação dos novos países membros do bloco. A presidente da ABC, Helena Nader, participou de forma virtual.
“Essa edição do Fórum tem duas características que considero de suma relevância. Primeiro, esta é a primeira reunião no contexto da nova configuração do bloco, com novos parceiros com quem teremos o prazer de trabalhar juntos. O segundo aspecto é que esta reunião está ocorrendo no contexto do tricentenário da Academia Russa, a qual estendo meus sinceros parabéns”, desejou Nader. “A ABC considera o Fórum BRICS uma arena de suma importância e considera que a inclusão dos novos membros aumenta sua importância e reforça nossa capacidade de cultivar novas iniciativas e colaborações com o objetivo de acelerar o desenvolvimento de nossos países e o bem-estar de nossos povos. Nós devemos abraçar coletivamente o compromisso de trabalhar por um mundo mais justo e cujo desenvolvimento deve se dar de forma mútua”, completou.

“ACADEMIC PARTNERSHIP FOR PEACE, DEVELOPMENT AND PROSPERITY”

We, the representatives of the BRICS Academies of Sciences, collectively known as the “BRICS Academies,” convened for the BRICS Academies of Sciences Heads meeting on May 29-30, 2024, in Moscow, Russian Federation, with the theme “Academic Partnership for Peace, Development, and Prosperity.”
Acknowledging the crucial role of science in advancing human progress;
Acknowledging the esteemed position of the BRICS Academies in fostering scientific dialogue at bilateral, international, and global levels;
Recognizing the duty of the scientific community and BRICS academies in nurturing a conducive environment for societal well-being;
Reaffirming our dedication to engaging in constructive, fair, transparent, and apolitical scientific discourse and academic collaboration to benefit the BRICS nations and humanity at large;
We deem it essential to:
1. Facilitate dialogue and knowledge sharing among BRICS Academies to jointly formulate recommendations for the governments on scientific, technological, and economic progress, social welfare, and the advancement of cutting-edge technologies;
2. Explore the potential for initiating new BRICS research and educational initiatives focusing on new technologies for sustainable development based on nature-liked solutions;
3. Promote the execution of collaborative scientific endeavors and projects among young scientists from the BRICS countries to cultivate the next generation of global scientific leaders;
4. Support initiatives aimed at discovering, conserving, and promoting the scientific legacy and achievements of the BRICS nations;
5. Endeavor to propagate scientific literacy and analytical reasoning as fundamental tools for addressing global challenges;
6. Conduct regular consultations among representatives of the BRICS Academies on areas of mutual interest;
7. Uphold the principles of the BRICS Spirit, characterized by mutual respect, sovereign equality, solidarity, democracy, openness, inclusiveness, enhanced cooperation, and consensus-building;
8. Propose a new model of partnership involving “Joint Design, Joint Production, and Common Marketing” in diverse technologies and industries to foster greater cooperation and innovation within the BRICS framework.
9. Encourage the creation of a joint BRICS Scientific Publishing Platform to enhance publication activity, knowledge sharing and technology transfer in the BRICS countries.
10. Support further development of cutting-edge research infrastructures to provide researchers in BRICS countries with access to mega-science projects.
